I want to inspire others, but if I don’t truly open up I will inspire no one.  It genuinely is down to me.  So for challenge one I see what I have faced and I acknowledge that the only thing holding me back from moving forward strong is me.  I need to stop settling and accepting and start busting balls.  I have goals.  It’s time to achieve them.

Opening Up A Book That Is Hard To Read...

I wanted to share his insight with you.  It is strange to think that I have coped with life for 40 years with a disability and have been completely blinded to it.When I was at primary school I was considered to be of lesser intelligence to the rest of the class,In hindsight I can see why.My speech, spelling and understanding of English were behind.I also muddled my words up, so for the the first year of school I spelt my name wrong.I was withdrawn in class and seemingly only elevated to equivalent levels in sport.I was placed in extra reading classes and in general I considered myself just as the school saw me.I was bullied...

It Must Be Quite Mild Because I Haven't Noticed...

    Currently, I would like a pound for each time I hear this phrase, and a pound for each time my husband hears it too.  Although I’d still have to work for a living, I could probably do my Christmas shopping without using my own money…   Let me start by giving you some context to this statement.     My husband has just been formally diagnosed with Aspergers.  Aspergers is is a developmental disorder on the Autistic Spectrum which is characterised by difficulties in social interaction and non verbal communication as well as behaviour and interests that can be intense and somewhat repetitive.   It is not a mental health condition, although many people who have it do...

Sexual Harrassment. Are we failing men?

#MeToo   I've seen this hash tag posted many times today and had a conversation about it earlier. So I ended up doing some research.   I have to admit that most of the posts, with the exception of one savvy Facebook friend who I respect, said   "If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "Me too" as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. Please copy/paste."   Said savvy friend had changed theirs to say people.   I did a bit of digging around. Now the origin of this latest trend comes from the Harvey Weinstein scandal and actress Alyssa Milano whose friend suggested the above statement....
